A travelling artist

For many years, I lived out of a suitcase. Most of the work I created were in small sketchbooks of A5 (15x21cm) or even smaller (14x14cm), like the original Camino diaries. I use pencil, ink and watercolour as these were the easiest materials to carry in my bag.

PUBLICATIONS

I kept a daily diary of art and text as I walked the Camino de Santiago in 2023.

I set off from the French side of the Pyrenees mountains and walked 920km (570mi) through small villages, medieval towns and magical forests in northern Spain until I reached the ocean at Finisterre. Over the course of 41 unforgettable days, I captured my observations, emotions and encounters of the Camino in real time in illustrations and prose.

The Camino Francés: My Illustrated Camino Diary 2 (2025)

My Illustrated Camino Diary (2024)

I had never even been on a day hike before yet here I was, walking for 26 days along this historic pilgrimage route through Spain.

I walked in torrential rain, strong winds and scorching heat. I walked up and down mountains, along winding country lanes and motorways with trucks roaring past. I was so slow that the only person I could overtake was a woman with a broken leg. But I kept walking.

Every moment of every day is captured in this illustrated diary, showing how I learned to overcome my fears and honour my heart.
